US stock futures dipped after the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady and warned of rising economic risks amid President Trump’s trade war.
Futures attached to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F), the benchmark S&P 500 (ES=F), and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (NQ=F) slipped 0.1%.
Stocks closed higher on Wednesday following the central bank’s policy decision. Although Fed officials warned that risks of rising inflation and unemployment have increased, Chair Jerome Powell said the job market remains “solid” and there is no urgency to change policy.
Plans for the US and China to hold their first trade talks separately lifted investor sentiment, even as Trump said he would not preemptively soften tariffs on the country ahead of the meeting.

On Thursday, Wall Street will get fresh insight into the labor market and consumer sentiment with the release of weekly jobless claims and the inflation expectations survey from the Federal Bank of New York.
Companies set to report earnings before the bell on Thursday include Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Peloton (PTON).
