KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello is set to join MLB Network draft coverage for the third time. He will appear on the first day of the 2025 MLB draft.

Coach Vitello will get to give his thoughts on many of his own players, as UT baseball is expected to have a large number of players drafted, according to a Tennessee Athletics press release.

“Tennessee is among the nation’s leaders in total draft prospects and is expected to have double-digit players selected, including a handful of players picked in the early rounds,” Tennessee Athletics said.

This season, multiple players from the Vols are expected to be drafted in the first round. “Lefthanded pitcher Liam Doyle and infielder Gavin Kilen are both likely to go in the first half of the opening round while corner infielder Andrew Fischer has also been consistently listed as a potential first-round pick in the mock drafts,” said UT Athletics.

According to MLB.com, UT boasts nine current players among the top 250 prospects, including six in the top 70.

UT has led the country in MLB draft pick since 2020 with 36 players chosen.
