Stock Market LIVE, November 17, 2025: Sensex, Nifty are holding gains
Sensex today | Stock Market close highlights, November 17, 2025: Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, settled in green on Monday driven by gains in public sector banks and consumer durable stocks. Additionally, NDA’s win in the Bihar elections 2025 and stock-specific action post earnings also lifted the investor sentiment.
The BSE Sensex closed at 84,950.95, up 388.17 points or 0.46 per cent. Likewise, Nifty50 settled at 26,013.45, up 103.4 points or 0.4 per cent.
Among the broader markets, Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices rose by 0.73 per cent and 0.52 per cent, respectively.
Among sectors, the Bank Nifty index hit a fresh record high at 59,001.55, rising 0.8 per cent. That apart, the Nifty PSU Bank index added 1.09 per cent, followed by Nifty Auto, Consumer Durables, Financial Services, Realty, FMCG, and IT, among others.
Eternal, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tech Mahindra were the top Sensex gainers.
On the downside, however, Tata Motors PV, Asian Paints, Ultratech, Bharat Electronics, and Tata Steel were the top laggards.
