Is the Stock Market Open for Christmas? Here’s the Holiday Trading Schedule

The trading year is winding down, with a few holidays and shortened sessions still ahead.

The next break comes around the Christmas holiday. The stock market will close at 1 p.m., and the bond market at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, for Christmas Eve, and remain closed through the holiday on Dec. 25.

Both markets are closed on Jan. 1, 2026, for New Year’s Day. Stock traders have a full day on New Year’s Eve, though bond trading ends at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

The next trading holiday comes on Monday, Jan. 19, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Both stock and bond markets will be closed.
