Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the S & P 500 rose Thursday, and what’s on the radar for the next session. The banks PNC Financial ‘s quarterly results will be out Friday. They will be featured on ” Squawk Box ” with Becky Quick, Andrew Ross Sorkin and Joe Kernen. The stock hit a high last week, but it’s down 2.5% from that level. Over the past three months, the stock has gained about 18%. We’ll have the numbers and the stock reaction. In a week of big bank reports, Goldman Sachs is up about 4% on a week-to-date basis. The stock gained 4.6% Thursday after the bank issued its quarterly earnings . JPMorgan is down 6% this week. The stock is off 8.3% from last week’s high. Citigroup is down 3.2% this week. Shares are down 5.4% from last week’s high. Bank of America is down almost 6% this week. The stock is down 8.6% from last week’s high. Morgan Stanley hit a new high during the session. The stock popped nearly 6% after Thursday’s earnings report . PNC 3M mountain PNC Financial in the past three months The regional banks Friday on “Squawk Box,” we will also hear from M & T Bank and Regions Financial . Birmingham, Alabama’s Regions Financial has gained 15.3% in the past three months. The stock hit a high last week, and it’s down 2.5% from that level. Buffalo, New York’s M & T Bank has jumped 15% in the past three months. It hit a high last week as well and is just 1.3% from that record. The S & P Financials are down 2.45% this week, the worst of the 11 sectors. But the State Street SPDR S & P Regional Bank ETF (KRE) is up 1.13% so far this week. Chips We’ll keep watching the chips Friday morning with Frank Holland on ” Worldwide Exchange ” starting at 5 a.m. on the East Coast. Jim Cramer of ” Mad Money ” built a whole tree of knowledge for investors on the big show Thursday night. The base of the tree is Taiwan Semi and its solid quarterly report . The stock hit a new high before backing off just a bit. Shares ended the session higher by 4.4% and are now up 12% in January. Cramer said, “Taiwan Semi made mincemeat of the skeptics. The report from Taiwan Semi changed the whole landscape. That’s what made things so strong for us who like tech in this market.” He also said, “One gander at the Taiwan Semi report tells you it is worth buying Apple because expensive phones were noted as having great strength.” Apple wasn’t great on Thursday, down 0.7%. It’s off 10.5% from the Dec. 3 high. AMD was up almost 2% Thursday. The stock is up 12% so far this week, and it hit a new high. Jabil was up nearly 5% in the session. It’s up about 12% week to date as well. AMD 5D mountain AMD shares in the past five sessions Cars and pickup trucks CNBC TV’s Phil LeBeau will take a good look at the sector Friday as more members of the Trump administration visit auto plants amid the president’s push to make new cars and trucks a little less expensive. Ford shares are down 5% from the high reached last week. The stock has gained 17.5% in the past three months. General Motors is off 5% from last week’s high. The stock is up about 40% in three months. Stellantis shares are 37% from the February 2025 high. Shares are flat in three months. Tesla is 12% from the Dec. 22 high. The stock is flat in three months but up 41% in six months. Toyota hit a high on Thursday. The stock is up 8.5% in January so far. Honda is 11% from the Sept. 8 high. The stock is up 4.4% in a week, and it’s up 1% in three months. Meta Platforms The stock is down 22% from the Aug. 15 high. Meta down about 5% so far this week. On Friday, CNBC TV’s Julia Boorstin, who covers the stock, will report in depth on the company’s spending on artificial intelligence and the AI strategy. She will tie it all back to the stock and the impact on shares, which have gained more than 350% in the past three years.
