Cameco Positioned in Uranium Market

Cameco (CCJ) is identified as a Canadian uranium mining company. It is described as the second-largest uranium producer globally based on production volume. The company reportedly produced 164 million pounds of uranium last year.

Industry data indicates 75 new nuclear reactors are currently under construction worldwide, with an additional 120 reactors planned. A portion of these reactors are being built by Westinghouse, in which Cameco holds a 49% ownership stake through a joint venture.

The company operates high-grade uranium mines, including the McArthur River and Cigar Lake sites. These mines possess notably higher average uranium concentrations compared to reserves in Kazakhstan, the world’s leading uranium producer.

For 2025, the company experienced an 11% increase in revenue. It maintains a net profit margin of 16.93% and a total debt-to-equity ratio of 0.14.

Despite a 23% gain since the start of the year and a 182% increase over the preceding twelve months, recent market conditions have temporarily paused this upward movement. The broader trend of global nuclear power expansion is viewed as a long-term driver for the company’s prospects.
