Fed Decision Day Wall Street is expecting that the Federal Reserve will raise its short-term interest rate by a quarter percentage point. We get the official word on Wednesday afternoon. The rate decision comes out at 2 p.m. ET, followed by a news conference with Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh at 2:30 p.m. Going into Wednesday, the 10-year Treasury note is yielding 5.006%. The 2-year yield is at 4.671%. The 1-year Treasury bill yield is at 4.372%. The 6-month T-bill is yielding 4.213%. The 3-month T-bill yield is at 4.063%. The 1-month T-bill yield is at 3.848%. The iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (SHYG) has a dividend yield of 7.09%. The iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) has a dividend yield of 6.05%. The State Street SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) has a dividend of 6.72%. The Fidelity Corporate Bond ETF (FCOR) has a dividend of 4.78%. CNBC’s senior economics reporter Steve Liesman will be all over the decision beginning on “Squawk Box” Wednesday. US10Y YTD mountain The 10-year Treasury yield in 2026 Retail sales August’s number comes out at 8:30 a.m. live on “Squawk Box.” The Dow Jones consensus estimate is for an increase of 0.8%. In the previous month, the number unexpectedly fell 0.6% versus the estimated gain of 0.1%. The State Street SPDR S & P Retail ETF (XRT) is off 10% from the August high. Some of the names are riding a post-earnings surge and leading the XRT of late: Signet Jewelers is up 21% in September and up 12.6% in the last three months. Academy Sports & Outdoors is up 17% this month and up 2.4% the last three months Best Buy is up 16% month to date and up 20.5% in the past three months. Some of the names are struggling to find their footing: Casey’s General Stores down 22% this month and down about 33% the last three months. Victoria’s Secret down 15% this month and down 8.6% the last three months. Burlington Stores is down 12.5% in September and down 32.5% the last three months Lennar reports after the bell Lennar is down 40% in the last year and down almost 5% this month PulteGroup is down 17% from its February high. The stock is down 5.4% this month. Toll Brothers is down 5.3% in the last year and down 6.5% this month. Hovnanian is down 21% in the last year and down nearly 5% this month. D.R. Horton is down 18.5% in the last year and off 3% this month. LEN 1Y mountain Lennar in the past 12 months Morgan Stanley’s Annual Laguna Conference Several defense and airlines companies are among the names that will be presenting at Morgan Stanley’s 14th Annual Laguna Conference. Northrop Grumman is down 2.5% the last three months and down 26.7% since the start of the war in Iran. Lockheed Martin is up 0.6% the last three months and down about 19% since the start of the war in Iran. L3Harris Technologies is down around 18% the last three months and down 31.5% since the start of the war in Iran. United Airlines and Southwest will also be presenting. UAL is down 1% in September and up 0.6% since the start of the war in Iran. LUV is up about 2% MTD and down 20% since the start of the war in Iran.
