Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Tuesday’s session.

Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(up 7.62%), SJVN Ltd.(up 5.71%), GE Power India Ltd.(up 5.59%), Adani Power Ltd.(up 5.58%), NHPC Ltd.(up 5.55%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 5.01%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(up 5.00%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 4.99%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 4.95%) and Reliance Power Ltd.(up 4.92%) stood among the top gainers.

Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(down 2.41%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 113.8 points up at 22217.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 328.48 points at 73104.61.

Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 5.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 3.93%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 3.24%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 2.6%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 2.43%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 2.25%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 2.08%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 1.91%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.57%) and NTPC Ltd.(up 1.4%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla Ltd.(down 4.06%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.19%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 1.15%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.05%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.81%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.68%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.67%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.65%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 0.56%) and ITC Ltd.(down 0.5%) closed in the red.
