Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Tuesday at 10:44AM

Mawana Sugars Ltd.(up 0.74%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(up 0.60%) and Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(up 0.22%) were among the top gainers.

Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 3.66%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 2.08%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.96%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.88%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 1.76%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.73%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 1.65%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(down 1.64%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 1.51%) and Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 1.22%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 39.0 points down at 22463.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 218.85 points at 73787.09 at around 10:44AM.

Coal India Ltd.(up 3.33%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 2.98%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 2.05%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.79%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 1.77%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 1.64%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 1.53%), State Bank of India(up 1.0%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 0.98%) and NTPC Ltd.(up 0.74%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Nestle India Ltd.(down 2.02%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.02%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.93%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 0.91%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 0.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.87%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.78%), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.77%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.76%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.64%) were trading in the red.
