Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.81%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.86 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 1.29 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.97 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.59 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.57 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 0.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.81 per cent up at 35426.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 183.46 points at 23721.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 712.44 points at 78053.52.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Hind Const Co, Suzlon Energy and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Jindal Photo, Somi Conveyor, AmaraRaja Batteries, Pearl Global and Borosil Scientific hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Suumaya Lifestyle, Future Supply Chain, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon and IndInfravit Trust hit their fresh 52-week lows.
