United States stock markets observe several holidays on the American calendar, including Memorial Day and Christmas.
Ahead of Easter Sunday 2026, here’s what to know about trading dates during Holy Week.
U.S. stock markets, including the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange, will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday.
Markets will reopen on Monday, April 6.
Ahead of the holiday, the U.S. bond market will close at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 2, as markets are slated to close early.
Stocks will be closed on Easter because the stock market routinely closes each weekend. Do not expect there to be an open market on Easter 2026 on Sunday, April 5.
Cryptocurrency markets, however, remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Trading crypto exchanges like Ethereum and Bitcoin will be available on Christmas Day.
Markets will be closed for the following holidays in 2026:
-
Good Friday: Friday, April 3
-
Memorial Day: Monday, May 25
-
Juneteenth: Friday, June 19
-
Independence Day: Friday, July 3
-
Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 7
-
Thanksgiving: Thursday, Nov. 26 (markets will also close at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 25)
-
Christmas: Friday, Dec. 25 (markets will also close at 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 24)
