Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the S & P 500 narrowly posted a third losing day, and what’s on the radar for the next session. The 10-year Treasury The yield on the 10-year note hit its highest level since Feb. 12. Thanks to CNBC data man Chris Hayes for keeping tabs on the bounces up and down. The benchmark yield is at 4.53% Thursday night. Earlier in the day, the House passed President Donald Trump’s wide-ranging tax and spending bill . Some critics charge it doesn’t do enough to address the deficit, and that’s one of the reasons why yields have been up. The two-year Treasury note yield is at 3.99%. The 20-year Treasury bond yield is at 5.05%. Many analysts said that an auction earlier this week was on the weak side. Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee will be live on ” Squawk Box ” Friday morning. He’ll be addressing rates and a lot more. Watch it live. “Squawk Box” starts at 6 a.m. on the East Coast. US10Y YTD mountain The 10-year Treasury yield in 2025 Utilities The S & P sector was up earlier this week, but it has fallen more than 3% in two days. With the exception of Vistra and Constellation Energy , every other stock in the sector dropped on Thursday. Quantum stocks CNBC stock man Tom Rotunno was watching the quantum stocks on Thursday. We will watch for a follow through on Friday. IonQ was up 36% on Thursday. It is up 67% in May, and shares are off 16% from the January high. Rigetti Computing jumped 26% in the session. The stock is up 56% in May, but it’s still off 35% from the January high. D-Wave was up 24% on Thursday. It is up 175% in May — that’s a leap — and it hit a new high during the session. Quantum Computing was up 14.5% in the session. The stock is up about 80% in May, but shares are still off 55% from the December high. One reason for Thursday’s jump may have been positive comments in Barron’s from IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi. He compared the company to Nvidia and traders seemed to be buying it, literally. IONQ 1Y mountain IonQ in the past 12 months Amazon and Ackman Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square added a new position in the online retail giant. Shares of Amazon were up about 1% on the news. The stock is 16% from the February 52-week high. Amazon is up 17% in a month. The airlines A lot of trouble in the world of airlines from delays to technical problems at Newark , a major United hub. But the stocks are having a good month. The airlines industry is a top performer in May, up 13%. Delta Air Lines is up 16.5% so far this month. The stock is off 30% from the January high. Southwest is up 11.6% in May. Southwest is down 13.5% from the December high. United is up 10.4% so far this month. The stock is 35% from the January high. JetBlue is up 13% this month. The stock is off 40% from the January high, and it is down 37% so far this year. Alaska Air is up 13% in May. The stock is 36% from the February high. DAL 1M mountain Delta Air Lines in the past month Auto supply stores Advance Auto Parts soared after posting quarterly results, and the stock got a boost from short covering. Shares jumped 57%. It is still 31% from the 52-week high hit last May. AutoZone is just 1.5% from its April high. O’Reilly Automotive is off 6% from the April 52-week high.
