From studying religion to writing about the stock market 🤷🏻‍♂️

I joined Joe Fahmy’s podcast during a recent trip to Vegas!

Joe Fahmy is one of my favorite people to talk to. Not just about markets, but about everything.

Fun fact: Joe and I both studied religion as undergrads in Boston, but on opposite sides of the Charles River.

Joe’s an advisor with Zor Capital. If you’ve ever seen him on TV or heard him on a podcast, you know he has a very clear, level-headed way of thinking about trading and investing.

Among other things, he’s got one of my favorite observations about why market commentators get into fights: “The majority of arguments on FinTwit have to do with timeframe. One person could be selling a stock because they think it will go down over the next 2 days and another could be buying because they think it will go up over the next 2 years. Don’t assume everyone trades like you.“

Last week, Joe had me on his podcast, “Joe’s Happy Hour.” We talked about how I went from studying religion to writing about markets, why financial news can be scary, who should pursue the CFA charter, and a whole bunch of other stuff that had little to do with current events in the markets. But if you listen, you’ll hear how markets relate to everything.

Catch it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Enjoy!
