Japan shares closed lower, in line with most Asian peers, with electronics and technology-related stocks weighing on the benchmark index.
The Nikkei Stock Average fell 2.6% to close at 38053.67. Hitachi dropped 6.2% and index heavyweight SoftBank Group shed 5.6%. NTT Data Group and Fujitsu lost 5.5% and 9.0%, respectively. Automobile stocks also fell, with Suzuki Motor shedding 4.3% and Isuzu Motors losing 3.6%.
USD/JPY was at 152.49, compared with 152.84 as of Thursday’s Tokyo stock-market close.
