My top 10 things to watch Tuesday, Nov. 19
1. Russian President Vladimir Putin warns of nuclear war as Ukraine points missiles at Moscow. The Kremlin leader expanded the conditions under which Russia would consider using its nuclear arsenal. Global markets fell on the news. Dow futures were down almost 500 points.
2. Lowe’s beat quarterly expectations, but the home-improvement retailer is still under DIY pressure with weaker demand for bigger and pricier discretionary projects. Just can’t get that housing market right yet for anybody.
3. Stifel predicts “another beat/raise scenario” when Nvidia reports quarterly results after the bell on Wednesday. If a Monday report in The Information — which said a certain configuration of Nvidia‘s next-generation Blackwell AI chips is overheating and causing some customers to worry about delays — is true, that’s impossible. I urged members to take that reporting with a grain of salt.
