US reciprocal tariffs on India to have limited impact as economy domestically-driven: S&P
India will be less impacted by the proposed US reciprocal tariff as the country’s economy is mainly driven by domestic demand, and has substantial services exports, which is not going to be targeted by the Trump Administration, S&P Global Ratings said on Wednesday. US President Donald Trump has announced he will impose reciprocal tariffs on its trading partners, including India.
S&P Global Ratings, Economist Asia-Pacific, Vishrut Rana said the reciprocal tariff will hurt countries like Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan more as they have high trade surplus with the US.
The Indian economy has two mitigating factors — greater reliance on domestic economy and larger services trade with the US, which is not likely to be tariffed.
Gold price hits fresh lifetime high of Rs 86,549 on MCX, extends weekly gains to Rs 1,400 per 10 gm
Gold hit a fresh lifetime high of Rs 86,549 per 10 gram on the MCX on Wedneday tracking gains in the international markets. The April futures contracts were trading at Rs 86,521 per 10 gram around 4 pm, gaining by over Rs 400 or 0.5%. Silver also jumped 0.6% or Rs 600 and was trading at Rs 97,425.
Gold prices have surged by nearly Rs 1,400 in this week so far while silver prices gained Rs 964/kg in the same period, largely remaining flat.
