A small negative candle was formed on the daily chart of Nifty with a minor lower shadow. Technically, this market action indicates a choppy movement in the market. Having declined sharply from near the hurdle of 24,500 levels, one may expect further consolidation movement in the short term.
The short-term trend of Nifty continues to be choppy and this consolidation is likely to continue for the coming session. The next lower supports to be watched are around 23,800 levels. Immediate resistance is placed at 24,250 levels, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.
In the open interest (OI) data, the highest OI on the call side was observed at 24,200 and 24,300 strike prices, while on the put side, the highest OI was at 24,000 strike price followed by 24,100.

Zoomcar raises $9.15 mn from institutional investors
Self-drive car-sharing platform Zoomcar on Friday said it has raised USD 9.15 million (about Rs 76 crore) from institutional investors. The proceeds will be used for repayment of approximately USD 3.8 million in debt and the remaining amount for general corporate purposes and working capital needs.
Gold rises Rs 500; silver jumps Rs 800 amid wedding festivities
Gold prices rose Rs 500 to reclaim the Rs 80,000 mark in the national capital on Friday amid fresh buying by local jewellers and retailers for the wedding festivities, according to the All India Sarafa Association. The precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had settled lower at Rs 79,500 per 10 grams on Thursday.
Silver also jumped Rs 800 to Rs 94,600 per kg against the previous close of Rs 93,800 per kg.
The price of gold of 99.5 per cent purity climbed Rs 500 to Rs 79,600 per 10 grams. It had closed at Rs 79,100 per 10 grams on Thursday.
Orient Cement Q2 Results: Profit slides 90% to Rs 2.32 cr, sales down 24%
CK Birla group firm Orient Cement Ltd on Friday reported a 90.5 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 2.32 crore for the second quarter ended September 2024. The company reported a net profit of Rs 24.62 crore for the July-September quarter a year ago.
Its revenue from operations was down 24.5 per cent at Rs 544.02 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 720.57 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. Total expenses of OCL were at Rs 544.47 crore in the September quarter, down 20 per cent.
Welspun Corp Q2 Results: Profit falls 27% to Rs 283 cr; board approves over Rs 2,000 cr investments
Welspun Corp on Friday reported around 27 per cent fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 282.96 crore for September quarter, mainly on account of fall in income. It had posted Rs 386.57 crore net profit for July-September 2023, the company said in an exchange filing.
Total income declined to Rs 3,364.23 crore from Rs 4,161.41 crore in the second quarter last fiscal.
Expenses were at Rs 3,074.90 crore as against Rs 3,820.59 crore a year ago.
The board also approved several investment proposals in India and abroad worth over Rs 2,000 crore.
Satin Creditcare Q2 Results: Profit slumps 60% to Rs 42 crore
Stress in the microfinance sector has pulled the second quarter standalone net profit for Satin Creditcare Network down 60% year-on-year while the lender revising its growth outlook downwards to prevent further deterioration of asset quality.
Satin’s consolidated net profit was at Rs 42 crore in the September quarter as compared with Rs 103 crore in the year-ago period.
Haldiram Bhujiwala raises Rs 235 crore
Snacks maker Haldiram Bhujiwala on Thursday said it has raised Rs 235 crore from Pantomath’s Bharat Value Fund (BVF) in lieu of a minority stake through private placement. In a statement, the company that retails its products under the brand ‘Prabhuji’ said it will use the funds to expand its manufacturing and markets outside of eastern and northeastern markets.
At present, the Kolkata-based company primarily operates in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and the Northeast states. Its 2,000 distributors service more than 2,00,000 retailers across the country.
NSE wants to launch IPO not for share price discovery but for transparency sake
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) today said it wants to launch its IPO, which could beat Hyundai’s record of largest public issue, not for price discovery of its shares but for the sake of transparency and accountability.
“The IPO will increase transparency and accountability. We are valued at around Rs 4.75 lakh crore in the unlisted market and as India’s largest exchange we should be accountable to the market,” Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer, NSE, told reporters in New Delhi today.
He said the IPO is not about price discovery as the bourse doesn’t have a promoter. “We are a quasi-commercial organization,” Krishnan said.

PFC Q2 Results: Profit rises nearly 9% to Rs 7,215 cr
State-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) on Friday posted nearly 9 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 7,214.90 crore for September quarter mainly on the back of higher revenues. The company logged a profit of Rs 6,628.17 crore in the same period of FY24, according to a BSE filing. Total income rose to Rs 25,754.73 crore from Rs 22,387.32 crore a year ago.
The company logged 14 per cent rise in consolidated Profit After Tax in April-September FY25, to Rs 14,397 crore from Rs 12,610 crore a year ago.
Consolidated net worth (including non-controlling interest) increased by 17 per cent from Rs 1,23,703 crore as on September 30, 2023 to Rs 1,45,158 crore as at September-end this year.
State Bank of India to sell 100 bln-rupee infra bonds by end of Nov, sources say
State Bank of India is likely to issue infrastructure bonds for the third time this year before the end of this month, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said, as demand for credit by steel, roads and renewable energy remains strong.
The country’s largest lender is likely to raise up to 100 billion rupees ($1.19 billion) through yet another 15-year bond issue, the sources said, declining to be identified as they are not authorised to speak to media.
Ola Electric Q2 Results: Loss narrows to Rs 495 crore on sales jump
Ola Electric, India’s top e-scooter maker, reported a narrower second-quarter loss on Friday, helped by a jump in sales and lower raw material costs.
The Bengaluru-based company said its consolidated loss narrowed to 4.95 billion rupees ($58.7 million) in the July-September quarter from 5.24 billion rupees a year earlier.
Abhishek Lodha transfers 18 pc stake worth Rs 21,000 crore in Macrotech Developers to philanthropic arm
Real estate tycoon Abhishek Lodha and family on Friday transferred an 18.09 per stake in their listed entity Macrotech Developers Ltd to the group’s philanthropic initiative, taking a leaf out of the Tatas. Macrotech Developers is one of the leading real estate developers in the country, selling properties under the Lodha brand. It currently has a market capitalisation of over Rs 1.17 lakh crore. The promoters own a 72.11 per cent stake in it.
At Friday’s closing price of Rs 1,175.75 apiece, the value of total shares transferred is over Rs 21,000 crore.
NSE poised to boost commodities mkt with new contracts in coming months
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is gearing up to strengthen its commodities segment with plans to roll out new contracts in the next few months, an NSE official said on Friday. The exchange is looking to leverage its expansive reach and financial strength to make a significant mark in commodities trading.
NSE Chief Business Development Officer Sriram Krishnan said the exchange is considering rolling out new contracts in the next few months and the focus would be non-agri commodities as there is a lot of certainty in launching these asset classes as compared to agri commodities.
India Cements Q2 Results: Loss widens to Rs 339 crore, revenue down 18% as prices fall
The India Cements Ltd (ICL) on Friday reported widening of consolidated net loss to Rs 339.13 crore for the second quarter ended September 2024, impacted by a decline in selling price. It had incurred a loss of Rs 80.07 crore in the July-September period a year ago, according to a BSE filing from ICL, in which rival Aditya Birla group firm UltraTech Cement has announced to acquire a majority stake.
Revenue from operations of ICL was down 18.4 per cent to Rs 1,031.80 crore as against Rs 1,264.39 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Life Insurance Corp (LIC) on Friday reported a 4% decline in its standalone net profit at Rs 7,621 crore for the quarter ended September 2024. The same stood at Rs 7,925 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Net premium income during the reporting quarter increased 11% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 1.19 lakh crore, compared with Rs 1.07 lakh crore in the same quarter last year.
LIC Q2 Results: Profit slips 4% YoY to Rs 7,621 crore
Life Insurance Corp (LIC) on Friday reported 4% decline in its standalone net profit at Rs 7621 crore in the quarter ended September 2024. The same stood at Rs 7925 crore in the year-ago quarter.
