Indian equities edged higher on Monday, supported by gains in the auto sector ahead of June’s monthly sales data and in information technology stocks amid renewed expectations of a U.S. interest rate cut in September.The NSE Nifty 50 climbed 0.21% to reach 24,061.45 points, while the S&P BSE Sensex increased by 0.2% to 79,191.55 points as of 10:12 a.m. IST.Nine out of thirteen major sub-sectoral indexes showed gains during the trading session.Auto stocks advanced by 0.5%, with investor focus on the upcoming monthly sales figures from automobile companies for June. Bajaj Auto, the first to report its data, saw its shares rise by 1%.Among the top performers in the Nifty 50 were Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, and Maruti Suzuki, each gaining 1%.
