Synopsis
Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates | Indian benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty slipped on Monday, driven by concerns over slowing earnings growth and foreign outflows. Additionally, comments from the Federal Reserve Chair suggesting a more gradual pace of interest rate cuts further dampened market sentiment.
Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates | Given the current conditions, a sell on rise strategy remains advisable for the index, while stock selection should be done with caution. For long-term investors, gradually accumulating fundamentally strong stocks with solid earnings could be a prudent approach, said Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking.

Opening Bell: Sensex starts on choppy note, Nifty tests 23,550; Honasa tanks 20%, Vedanta rises 4%

Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Sensex rises 282 points; Nifty above 23,600 in pre-open trade
The Nifty is trading near the 200-DMA and the lower end of a falling parallel channel, indicating strong support around 23,500. Thursday’s session formed a small doji-like candle following a large down candle the previous day, suggesting that selling pressure has eased somewhat. However, the market will need to rally above Thursday’s high of 23,676 for bulls to attempt a larger rebound. If this level is not breached, support in the 23,200–23,300 zone may come into play. Both daily and weekly momentum remain negative, with the latter reaching deeply oversold levels
– Akshay Chinchalkar, Head of Research at Axis Securities
Even though Nifty has corrected 10.4% from the peak there are no signs of a sustained recovery in the market. Relentless FII selling, earnings downgrades for majority of stocks for FY25, and the consequences of the Trump trade are weighing on the market. Sentiments have turned negative and, therefore, investors should exercise caution at this stage and wait for clarity on the direction of the market. With the dollar index strong at 106.6 and the 10-year US bond yield at 4.44% there is no room for a quick reversal of FII flows. Investors can focus on areas of strength like digital companies and high quality banking stocks. Largecaps like RIL and Eicher are showing resilience.”
