Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened the week’s opening session in a positive note on cues from global markets.
Asian indices remained largely in positive territory with Nikkei smashing the 40,000 mark. The Japanese index is trading 316.01 points, or 0.79 per cent higher at 40,226.83 while South Korea’s Kospi inched 1.21 per cent to trade at 2,673.79.
Chinese indices remained marginally lower as the country is gearing up for a “two sessions” meeting. CSI 300 and Hang Seng slipped around 0.2 per cent during the early trade.
Just like global indices, international crude oil prices also continue to soar high with US crude touching the $80 mark for the first time since November 2023. US WTI is trading at $79.97 a barrel while Brent is trading 0.16 per cent higher at 83.69. The rise in oil prices comes as OPEC+ members guided by its leaders, Saudi Arabia and Russia, will extend voluntary cuts till June this year.
