    IPO Check | Ola Electric gets Sebi approval for Rs 7,250-crore IPO

    Electric vehicle maker Ola Electric has received market regulator Sebi’s nod for its initial public offering wherein the firm is looking to raise Rs 7,250 crore, sources told Moneycontrol.

    Ola Electric was the firs-ever Indian EV two-wheeler maker to file for an IPO. The firm filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the markets regulator on December 22, 2023.

    On May 25, Moneycontrol was the first to report that Ola Electric has roped in Kotak Mahindra Capital and Goldman Sachs for an IPO in early 2024.

    Ola Electric’s IPO comprisesd a fresh issue of Rs 5,500 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 1,750 crore totalling Rs 7,250 crore. Existing shareholders were said to sell 95.19 million shares in the OFS, as per the firm’s DRHP. Read More

    Global News | India may grow 6.7% on average from FY25-FY27: World Bank

    The World Bank on June 11 retained its GDP growth projection for India at 6.6 percent in FY25.

    Back in April, the World Bank had raised its GDP growth projection for India by 20 basis points to 6.6 percent for the ongoing financial year.

    The global agency said that India will remain the fastest-growing of the world’s largest economies, although its pace of expansion is expected to moderate. After a high growth rate in 2023-24, steady growth of 6.7 percent per year, on average, is projected for the three fiscal years beginning in 2024-25, according it its Global Economic Prospects for June 2024.

    World Bank see India’s GDP growth at 6.7 percent in FY26 and 6.8 percent in FY27. Read More

    Currency Check | Dollar steadies ahead of US inflation test, Fed decision

    The dollar steadied on Wednesday after hitting a four-week high against peer currencies overnight as market players awaited key U.S. inflation data and the Federal Reserve’s updated interest rate projections due later in the day.

    The U.S. dollar has rebounded after Friday’s stronger-than-expected jobs report raised the prospect of inflation remaining sticky while growth stays strong, making the U.S. central bank less likely to cut rates in the coming months.

    The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a handful of other major peers, was little changed at 105.27, after touching its strongest level since May 14 at 105.46 overnight.

    Commodity Check | Oil prices edge up on optimistic demand outlook

    Oil prices ticked higher on Wednesday on upbeat global demand views from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and OPEC.

    Brent crude futures rose 11 cents, or 0.1%, to $82.04 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures gained 18 cents, or 0.2%, to settle at $78.10.

    The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 rose on Tuesday to end at all-time highs, reversing early losses as investors prepared for upcoming inflation data and the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy meeting.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 120.62 points, or 0.31%, to 38,747.42, the S&P 500 gained 14.53 points, or 0.27%, to 5,375.32 and the Nasdaq Composite added 151.02 points, or 0.88%, to 17,343.55.

    Market on Tuesday:

    The Nifty and Sensex ended traded mostly flat-to-positive on June 11, with NSE Nifty 50 reaching within touching distance of its all-time high that it hit in the previous session. However, the benchmark indices gave up gains towards the end of the trading session, with Nifty and Sensex turning flat.

    At close, the Sensex was down 33 points or 0.04 percent at 76,456 and the Nifty 50 was up 5.60 points or 0.02 percent at 23,265. About 2,366 shares advanced, 1,276 shares declined, and 94 shares remained unchanged.

    Biggest losers on the Nifty included Kotak Mahindra Bank, Divi’s Labs, and Asian Paints while biggest gainers were ONGC, L&T, and Adani Ports among others.

    Among sectoral indices, Nifty Realty and Nifty Media were the biggest gainers, rising over over 1 percent each. Meanwhile, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare fell the most, declining 0.4 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
