Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Tuesday’s session.

The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(up 20.01%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(up 6.35%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 1.61%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 0.85%), Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(up 0.57%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.44%), 20 Microns Ltd.(up 0.40%) and Oriental Trimex Ltd.(up 0.36%) stood among the top gainers.

Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 4.77%), MOIL Ltd.(down 2.14%), KIOCL Ltd.(down 1.49%), Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(down 1.14%), NMDC Ltd.(down 0.55%) and Pokarna Ltd.(down 0.11%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 92.31 points up at 23557.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 308.37 points at 77301.14.

Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 3.58%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 3.21%), Wipro Ltd.(up 3.01%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.67%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.56%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.46%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.3%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.14%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 1.0%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 2.22%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.55%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 1.11%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 1.11%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.86%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.76%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 0.71%), ITC Ltd.(down 0.56%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 0.56%) and Divi’s Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.53%) closed in the red.
