Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 11:25AM

Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 4.97%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(up 4.82%), Suzlon Energy Ltd.(up 3.65%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(up 2.77%), CESC Ltd.(up 2.12%), Torrent Power Ltd.(up 1.96%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 1.93%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 1.19%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.12%) and GE Power India Ltd.(up 0.90%) were among the top gainers.

Inox Wind Ltd.(down 14.79%), Karma Energy Ltd.(down 4.98%), Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(down 2.93%), GE T&D India Ltd.(down 2.47%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(down 1.68%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 1.66%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(down 1.60%), Adani Power Ltd.(down 1.38%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(down 1.34%) and JSW Energy Ltd.(down 0.98%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 164.81 points down at 22723.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 574.38 points at 74596.07 at around 11:25AM.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.12%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.04%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.83%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 0.82%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 0.52%), Cipla Ltd.(up 0.42%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.25%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 0.23%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 0.23%) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.17%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 2.36%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.8%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.78%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 1.69%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 1.63%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.54%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.34%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.23%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.21%) and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.15%) were trading in the red.
