Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday’s session.

Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(up 2.82%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(up 2.10%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(up 1.17%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 1.02%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 0.38%) and Tata Power Company Ltd.(up 0.23%) stood among the top gainers.

India Power Corporation Ltd.(down 5.68%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 3.81%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(down 3.64%), Torrent Power Ltd.(down 3.41%), GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd.(down 3.11%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(down 3.04%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.91%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(down 2.91%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(down 2.89%) and NHPC Ltd.(down 2.79%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 265.8 points down at 24008.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 880.34 points at 79454.47.

Titan Company Ltd.(up 4.19%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 3.76%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 3.62%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 2.84%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.41%), State Bank of India(up 1.34%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.13%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.84%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 0.75%) and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.69%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 3.25%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.91%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 2.37%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 2.34%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 2.3%), Trent Ltd.(down 2.18%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 2.17%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 2.12%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 2.02%) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 2.02%) closed in the red.
