Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Friday at 10:09AM

Energy Development Company Ltd.(up 1.77%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 1.73%), Karma Energy Ltd.(up 1.02%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(up 1.00%), GE Power India Ltd.(up 0.99%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(up 0.62%), Transrail Lighting Ltd.(up 0.57%) and CESC Ltd.(up 0.31%) were among the top gainers.

Reliance Power Ltd.(down 5.01%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 2.52%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(down 2.35%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(down 2.06%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 1.77%), Suzlon Energy Ltd.(down 1.72%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 1.64%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.59%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(down 1.57%) and GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(down 1.47%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 148.1 points down at 24914.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 409.82 points at 81774.35 at around 10:09AM.

SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.5%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.09%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 0.69%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.38%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.31%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.19%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.09%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.05%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 4.54%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 4.3%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 3.17%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.56%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.99%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.59%), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.59%), Jio Financial Services Ltd.(down 1.47%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.4%) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.38%) were trading in the red.
