Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 10:14AM

Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 2.68%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 2.15%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 1.91%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 1.80%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 1.80%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 1.71%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 1.38%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(up 1.38%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 1.32%) and Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 1.27%) were among the top gainers.

Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 0.43%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 27.3 points down at 22275.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 162.66 points at 73349.19 at around 10:14AM.

Coal India Ltd.(up 2.37%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 2.07%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.64%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.48%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 1.25%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 1.1%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.04%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 0.93%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.86%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.86%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(down 3.1%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.37%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.13%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.05%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.01%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.92%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.91%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 0.85%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.66%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.66%) were trading in the red.
