The stock market was listless again on Tuesday, a sign that some on Wall Street were already looking ahead to the long weekend.
The Dow was down 150 points, or 0.4%. The S&P 500 was off 0.4%. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.6%. The S&P’s six-day winning streak was on the line.
Roughly 171 S&P 500 stocks were rising on the day, with riskier stocks lagging behind some safer plays like consumer staples and utilities. The Invesco S&P 500 High Beta ETF was down 0.4%, while the Invesco S&P 500 Low Volatility ETF was flat.
