The Stock Market Rebound Is Broad. There’s Nowhere to Hide If Things Turn.
The U.S. stock market was set to continue its rebound with another strong start Wednesday. And the rally is broad-based.
Futures on the S&P 500 were up 2.5% ahead of the open, with 481 of the index’s stocks higher in premarket trading. In Tuesday’s trading, 494 of the index’s stocks closed higher and just nine fell–matching the number of risers on April 9 when the S&P 500 surged 9.5%.
Positive developments on tariffs and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s future are lifting almost every stock. President Donald Trump said he has no intention of firing Powell, and also suggested tariffs on Chinese goods could be lower if a deal is reached between Washington and Beijing.
