TJ Oshie is getting a new opportunity tonight.
The Capitals’ 2018 Stanley Cup champion forward will be appearing on ESPNs coverage of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers currently lead the series 2-1 and are trying to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year.
Oshie first revealed the news on X in the afternoon, writing “LET’S GO!! Can’t wait to join the boys on @espn tonight!”
He added on his Instagram story that he would be at ESPN’s Bristol, CT
studios serving as an analyst.
The opportunity for Oshie comes several weeks after the Washington Capitals were eliminated by Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Oshie spent entire season on longterm injured reserve due to a lingering back issue.
Despite not appearing in a game this season, Oshie still made his presence felt as best he could, making appearances at several practices and giving suggestions to Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery.
“[Spencer Carbery] says ‘he’s texting me all the time, coming up with creative practice drills, giving me observations,” ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reported earlier in the year. “‘TJ Oshie will be an excellent coach someday.’”
Oshie participated in several major Capitals events including Caps 50 Fest and a Stanley Cup championship plaque ceremony at Washington Harbour. He was also at Capital One Arena when Alex Ovechkin tied Wayne Gretzky’s goals record (though he missed out seeing the goal) and was on Long Island when Ovi reached immortality, taking a photo with the Capitals captain in the locker room afterwards.
Oshie has a busy summer planned as well. He’s scheduled to participate in Karl Alzner’s celebrity softball game and the American Century Championship golf tournament in July.
