Treasury yields struggle to beat last week’s settle, but remain elevated.
The recent bonds selloff has been attributed to the U.S. economic strength, mostly when other developed nations sputter. Inflation data later this week are expected to keep the narrative afloat.
Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal forecast a small acceleration in the core December PPI tomorrow, followed by a steady, but still hot 3.3% 12-month core CPI reading Wednesday. Headline annual CPI is expected at 2.9%, up from 2.7% in November.
