Dasani also predicted that the immediate market reaction would be a “relief bounce”, but on a structural basis, a rate cut would make the US Treasuries less rewarding, compressing yields and reducing the appeal of holding duration.

“When risk assets look stretched, and sovereign yields fall simultaneously, global capital tends to migrate toward alternative stores of value. That is why gold and silver have been firming ahead of the decision; safe-haven demand increases when rate cuts are driven by concern rather than confidence. This move, therefore, is less a green light for risk-on positioning and more a reminder that the Fed is responding to economic fragilities still unfolding beneath the surface,” said the market expert ahead of the Fed’s policy announcement.
