The Morning Bull – US Market Morning Update Thursday, Mar, 12 2026
US stock futures are pointing lower this morning, with E mini S&P 500 contracts down about 0.4% and Nasdaq 100 futures off roughly the same, as investors digest fresh inflation data and higher borrowing costs. Consumer prices in February rose 0.3% from January and 2.4% over the year, while core inflation, which strips out food and energy, is steady at 2.5%. That steady core reading, driven by shelter and medical costs, helps explain why the 10 year US Treasury yield sits around 4.24%. This is keeping pressure on rate sensitive areas like smaller company stocks and real estate and raising the question of how long investors may have to live with higher for longer interest rates weighing on parts of the equity market.
If higher-for-longer rates have you on edge, focus on 67 resilient stocks with low risk scores before volatility heats up.
