Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching and what’s on the radar for the next session. Tech in the U.S.A. Check out “Sectornomics” on Friday, starting on ” Worldwide Exchange ” with anchor Frank Holland in the 5 a.m. hour ET on CNBC TV. We’ll run through the sector and take a special look at Apple and the suppliers. We’ll also report on the cybersecurity stocks, which have picked up a lot of attention and investor interest recently amid a wave of cyberattacks. Tech ranks 5th out of 11 sectors in 2025. It is up 6.5% so far this year. Palantir , Seagate and Super Micro are the top performers so far this year. Enphase , Teradyne and EPAM are the worst performers. .GSPT YTD mountain The S & P 500 Information Technology sector in 2025 Almost the end of the half With two trading days left in the first half of 2025, here’s where we stand. The Nasdaq 100 hit an all-time high and closed at a record. It’s up 6.8% so far in 2025. The New York Stock Exchange Composite is off 0.38% from its high. It’s up 6% in 2025. The Nasdaq Composite is off 0.18% from its high. It’s up 4.44% in 2025. The S & P 500 is 0.1% from its high, roughly 6 points off. The index is up 4.4% in 2025. The Russell 2000 is down 2.6% this year so far. The best top picks so far CNBC tracks what Wall Street analysts call their “top picks.” These are the stocks the pros think will outperform. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs have Robinhood as a top pick. That’s been a good one in 2025, up 126% so far. Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan liked Spotify . The streaming service is up 73% in 2025. Goldman Sachs, Wedbush and Wolfe got behind Uber early in 2025. It is up 54% so far this year. HOOD YTD mountain Robinhood in 2025 India, President Trump and a deal… maybe President Donald Trump hinted there may be an upcoming deal with India. The iShares MSCI India ETF (INDA) is up 6% so far this year. It is off 6% from the September high. The First Trust India NIFTY 50 Equal Weight ETF (NFTY) is up 7.3% this year. It’s off 8.8% from the September high. The Great American Dollar The dollar index is down five straight days. It is now at lows not seen since March 2022. When the dollar goes down, it is cheaper for US exporters like Chevron , Dow Inc , Apple , Microsoft and Boeing to do business. When the dollar goes down, it is more difficult for U.S. importers like Walmart , Target , Home Depot , Lowe’s and Amazon to do business. Chevron is up 5.6% in June. Shares are off 14.5% from the March high. Dow Inc is down 2% in June. The stock is 51% from the July 2024 high. Apple is flat in June. It’s off 22% from the December high. Microsoft is up 8% in June. It hit a new high Thursday. Boeing is down 2% in June. Shares are down 7.4% from the hit two weeks ago. Walmart is down 2.7% in June. It’s 8.8% from the February high. Target is up 3.8% in June. The stock is off 41% from the August 2024 high. Home Depot is down 1.3% in June. The stock is 17% from the November high. Lowe’s is down 2% in June. Shares are down 23% from the October high. Amazon is up about 6% in June. It’s off 10.5% from the February high. Congratulations to Jeff Bezos on the big, big wedding. CVX 1M mountain Chevron shares in the past month Nike The company’s earnings showed it beat estimates on the top and bottom lines , but the results aren’t where Nike wants to be, according to CEO Elliott Hill. The company expects tariffs to cost it $1 billion, according to CNBC’s Jessica Golden. About 16% of Nike’s supply chain is in China, and the company expects to reduce that number to the high single-digit percentage range. Despite all that the stock is up 10% after hours. Things weren’t as bad as some investors feared. “Fast Money” trader Carter Worth said Thursday night: “Just buy it… but go small.” Counting Thursday’s after-hours gain, Nike is up 15% in the past month. Accounting for the action in extended trading, shares are down 8% so far in 2025. We’ll be following bright and early on CNBC TV.
