Stockholm’s stock market is expected to start Monday higher.

Euro Stoxx 50 futures are up 0.67%, FTSE 100 futures add 0.35%, and DAX futures rise 0.54%. U.S. stock index futures are also higher.

Oil prices are down about 2%.

In the global news flow, the U.S., Denmark, and Greenland are reported to have reached an agreement on a security deal that is expected to give the U.S. an expanded military presence in Greenland. The agreement is expected to be signed during the week and will also acknowledge Denmark’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as Greenlanders’ right to self-determination.

Far-right AfD becomes the largest party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern while Die Linke wins the election in Berlin, according to the preliminary results. SVT reports. AfD gets 38.2% in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, while the governing SPD gets 35.5%. In Berlin, Die Linke is the largest with 25.7% after a campaign in which housing and rent issues, among other topics, were front and center. The elections were especially heavy losses for Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s CDU. Merz himself describes the result as a ‘catastrophe’.

Germany, a key market for heat pump maker Nibe, posted a 103% increase in the number of applications for heat pump subsidies in August compared with the same month last year. Versus the previous month, applications fell 2%.

In company news, carmaker Volvo Cars has appointed German executive Klaus Zellmer as its new CEO, taking up the post no later than Oct. 1, 2027. Zellmer is currently CEO of Skoda Auto and has more than 30 years of experience in the auto industry. He has previously held senior roles at Volkswagen and Porsche, including as CEO of Porsche North America.

Perpetual has rejected EQT-controlled Windflower’s final offer of about $2.6bn. The board says the offer undervalues the company and involves excessive execution risk. Perpetual now considers the discussions closed.

Online broker Nordnet will repurchase its own shares for up to SEK 250m.

On the research front, DNB Carnegie has initiated coverage of Silex with a hold rating and a target price of SEK 165

Dagens industri recommends buying serial acquirer Addnode, whose stock has plunged nearly 60% over the past year. Di also says outdoor equipment company Thule is worth holding after last year’s buy call failed to deliver.
