Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is enjoying a real comeback moment in China. A new Bloomberg report says iPhone sales have picked up so sharply that Apple now controls 25% of the Chinese smartphone market something that didn’t seem likely earlier this year.
Counterpoint Research, which tracked the data, told Bloomberg that the entire iPhone 17 lineup is outperforming last year’s models by a wide margin. Whether it’s the 5,999-yuan (about $850) iPhone 17 or the top-end 8,999-yuan 17 Pro Max, each one is selling better than its iPhone 16 counterpart by double-digit percentages. Analyst Ivan Lam added that more than 80% of Apple’s unit sales in China are now coming from the new models, and the higher price points are naturally helping Apple’s revenue climb.
Lam did say Huawei’s Mate 80 launch on November 25 could shake things up, but right now Apple’s run looks strong. There’s a lot of momentum behind Apple, he noted, adding there’s no obvious sign that demand is about to fall off.
It’s a big turnaround from early 2025, when Apple was losing share to Chinese rivals and dealing with weaker shipments. Investors will watch whether this iPhone 17 streak holds into the crucial holiday stretch.
