Fabrinet stock exploded higher, jumping 15.5% to about US$363 after markets weighed its latest Q1 2027 report. On the surface this looks like a simple relief rally after a tough three months, with the share price down about 30% over the prior quarter. The real story sits in the tape of the income statement. Revenue landed near US$1.47b and non cash earnings risk stayed front of mind, yet the trailing twelve month earnings base reached roughly US$480.6 million.

For traders, that one day spike is the headline. For long term holders, the more important plotline is how that earnings engine lines up against a P/E of 27.1 and an internal value estimate that sits well above where Fabrinet currently trades. The short term move says relief. The multi year lens forces you to decide whether this quarter confirms an earnings trend or just sets up the next test.

Q1 2027 Earnings Summary

  • Revenue (Q1 2027 vs. Q1 2026): US$1,474.5m vs. US$978.1m (up about 51%)

  • Net Income, excluding extra items (Q1 2027 vs. Q1 2026): US$103.5m vs. US$95.9m (up about 8%)

  • Basic EPS (Q1 2027 vs. Q1 2026): US$2.89 vs. US$2.68 (up about 8%)

  • Trailing twelve month Net Income, excluding extra items (Q1 2027 vs. Q1 2026): US$480.6m vs. US$351.1m (up about 37%)

Earnings paint one picture, but if you care about valuation you probably care more about the cash flows backing those profits. Looking at Fabrinet’s cash generation alone, the stock could be a solid 25% undervalued.

Evaluating Fabrinet’s Margin Conversion Milestones

The bullish story argues Fabrinet can turn AI demand and new factories into richer earnings, not just bigger sales.

“The main thing that has to go right is Fabrinet successfully filling its expanded capacity with higher value-add photonics packaging work such as NPO and CPO, while continuing to broaden its customer base across hyperscalers, telecom and non-optical markets so that elevated CapEx and customer concentration risks remain manageable.”

Q1 shows partial progress. Data center, communications and automotive or industrial programs all contributed, which supports the customer mix goal. Capacity is clearly being used, with revenue up sharply and Q2 guidance stepping higher. Yet non GAAP gross margin at 12.1% edged lower, so the higher value packaging uplift is not visible in headline margins yet.
