Investing.com — Huron Consulting Group Inc (NASDAQ:HURN) shares rose 2.9% in after-hours trading Thursday following S&P Dow Jones Indices’ announcement that the company will join the S&P SmallCap 600 index.
The Chicago-based professional services and management consulting firm will replace Supernus Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SUPN) in the index effective prior to the opening of trading on November 2, 2026. Supernus Pharmaceuticals is being acquired by Indivior Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:INDV) in a deal expected to be completed soon, pending final closing conditions.
S&P Dow Jones Indices also announced that MSG Rangers Inc. (NYSE:MSGR) will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 effective prior to the opening of trading on October 27, 2026. The addition follows a spinoff from Madison Square Garden Sports Corp (NYSE:MSGS), which will be renamed MSG Knickerbockers Inc. (NYSE:MSGK) and remain in the index.
MSG Rangers will replace Arbor Realty Trust, Inc (NYSE:ABR), which will be removed from the S&P SmallCap 600 effective prior to the opening of trading on October 28, 2026. S&P Dow Jones Indices stated that Arbor Realty Trust is no longer representative of the small-cap market space.
Index inclusion typically drives increased demand for a company’s shares as passive funds tracking the index adjust their holdings to match the new composition.
