What Happened?
Shares of healthcare tech company Omnicell (NASDAQ:OMCL) fell 9.9% in the afternoon session after the company issued weak guidance for the upcoming quarter that overshadowed its strong second-quarter results.
The healthcare technology company reported second-quarter revenue of $312.2 million and an adjusted profit of $0.94 per share, both beating Wall Street’s expectations. However, investors focused on the weaker outlook.
Looking ahead, Omnicell projected third-quarter revenue of approximately $304 million, which came in 2.9% below analysts’ estimates. The company also stated that its earnings per share guidance for the next quarter missed consensus expectations, raising concerns about its near-term growth trajectory.

What Is The Market Telling Us
Omnicell’s shares are quite volatile and have had 18 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 6 months ago when the stock dropped 18.4% on the news that the company reported fourth-quarter earnings that fell short of Wall Street expectations and provided a disappointing forecast for the 2026 financial year. Omnicell posted adjusted earnings of $0.40 per share, missing analyst estimates of $0.50. This figure was also down from the $0.60 per share reported in the same quarter last year. While revenue for the quarter came in at $314 million, meeting expectations, the significant profit miss concerned investors. Adding to the pressure, the company’s guidance for the upcoming year also weighed on the stock. Omnicell’s forecast for adjusted earnings per share and EBITDA for the 2026 financial year came in below analyst expectations, signaling potential weakness ahead.
Omnicell is down 18.3% since the beginning of the year, and at $36.86 per share, it is trading 28.3% below its 52-week high of $51.39 from January 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Omnicell’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $251.60.
