KENNEBUNK, Maine — Two RSU 21 fifth graders earned top honors this spring in Maine’s Stock Market Game, a statewide financial literacy competition that challenges students to invest a virtual $100,000 and make real‑time decisions in the stock market.
The Stock Market Game, used in classrooms across Maine, teaches students how to manage risk, analyze companies and track market performance while competing against peers. The Spring 2026 session concluded with two local students finishing first and second in the state’s elementary division.
Violet Park, a fifth grader at Kennebunkport Consolidated School, took first place in the elementary school division in Maine’s Stock Market Game.
Violet Park, a fifth grader at Kennebunkport Consolidated School, took first place in the elementary school division with a portfolio that finished 9.6% above the S&P 500 Growth benchmark. Orson Carpenter, a fifth grader at Mildred L. Day School, earned second place with a 7.5% return above the same benchmark.
In recognition of their performance, Park and Carpenter each received a certificate, medal and American Express gift card from the Stock Market Game.
