Synopsis

A long bear candle was formed on Nifty’s daily chart that was placed beside the long bull candle of Thursday. Technically, this pattern indicates a profit booking in the market after a stellar rise on Thursday. Nifty is currently placed near the support of 23,900 levels, which is halfway to a long bull candle of Thursday and also support as per change in polarity.

On the weekly chart, a reasonable bull candle was formed with upper and lower shadows, which indicates a high wave type candle formation. The near-term uptrend remains intact for Nifty. A decisive move above Thursday’s high (24,226) could open renewed buying participation towards 24,400-24,500 levels. Immediate support is around 23,930-23,840 levels, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

REC overall loan disbursements up 18 pc to Rs 54,692 cr in Q3

State-owned REC Ltd on Friday said its overall loan disbursements increased by nearly 18 per cent to Rs 54,692 crore in the December 2024 quarter. The quantum of renewable energy loan disbursements grew 58.09 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) to Rs 6,314 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, a company statement said.

During the quarter, REC Ltd has disbursed loans worth Rs 54,692 crore, up 17.98 per cent YoY, according to the statement.

India’s Dabur estimates low-single digit sales growth in Q3

Dabur India, which makes products ranging from honey to toothpaste, estimated its revenue rose in the low single-digit percentage range in the third quarter due to subdued demand for healthcare and beverage products, it said on Friday.

Analysts, on average, had expected revenue growth to pick up to 4.8% in the October-December quarter, according to LSEG data, from a 5.5% decline in the previous quarter, which was the first drop in quarterly revenue since 2020.

Bank of Baroda Q3 update: Global business jumps 12% YoY to Rs 25.64 lakh crore

Bank of Baroda’s (BoB) Q3FY25 global business grew by 11.74% year-on-year to Rs 25.64 lakh crore versus Rs 22.94 lakh crore reported by the state lender in the year ago period.

In this, the global advances surged 11.65% YoY to Rs 11.72 lakh crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2024, up from Rs 10.49 lakh crore in Q3FY24, the company informed to the exchanges after market hours. Meanwhile, global deposits of the bank grew by 11.82% YoY in the said quarter to Rs 13.92 lakh crore versus Rs 12.45 lakh crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Gold hits three-week peak on softer dollar and safe haven inflows

Gold prices hit a three-week high on Friday, supported by a weaker dollar and safe-haven demand, as markets awaited potential policy changes from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Spot gold was steady at $2,658.11 per ounce, up 1.5% for the week, while U.S. gold futures held at $2,672.20.

The dollar index hit its highest since November 2022, with the euro at $1.0280 after touching its lowest since 2022. The pound and yen also remained at multi-month lows amid the dollar’s dominance.

Quadrant Future IPO to open on Jan 7 with price band of Rs 275-290 per share

Quadrant Future Tek Ltd on Friday said it has fixed the price band at Rs 275-290 per equity share for its Rs 290-crore initial public offering (IPO) that will open for public subscription on January 7. The IPO of Quadrant Futures Tek will conclude on January 9, while the bidding for anchor investors is to open for a day on January 6, the company said in a statement.

Investors can bid for a minimum of 50 equity shares and in multiples of 50 equity shares thereafter, it added.

Kotak Mahindra Bank led India’s investment banking fee rankings in 2024, earning $92.8 million and a 7.2% wallet share, according to LSEG data. Leading bourse NSE has seen the most number of IPOs, across the mainboard and SME segment, in Asia and also the highest equity capital raised through the primary market globally in 2024.

There were 90 mainboard IPOs and 178 SME IPOs on NSE with companies raising Rs 1.6 lakh crore. This marks the highest number of IPOs recorded in any calendar year, demonstrating the growing confidence of investors in India’s capital markets.
