The strength of the US market with S&P 500 setting yet another record high and the 10-year US bond yield remaining strong around 4.65% will continue to weigh on the Indian market. FIIs will continue to sell putting pressure on largecaps like banking. The irrationality in the market characterised by fair and even low valuations for largecaps like banking and excessive valuations in the broader market will have to reverse at some point of time. But we don’t know when that will happen.
The Q3 results of IT companies and the management commentary indicating improving prospects for the sector suggest that the sector is a safe bet now.

Torrent Pharma misses Q3 profit estimates, hurt by insulin plant closure
India’s Torrent Pharmaceuticals reported a smaller-than-expected third-quarter profit on Friday, hurt by the planned closure of its insulin manufacturing facility. The company, known for its calcium supplement Shelcal 500, reported a near 14% rise in consolidated net profit to 5.03 billion rupees ($58.3 million) for the quarter ended Dec. 31, missing analysts’ estimates of 5.13 billion rupees, per data compiled by LSEG. Revenue rose nearly 3% to 28.09 billion rupees but came short of analysts’ estimate of 29.92 billion rupees.
Shriram Finance posts 14% rise in Q3 profit on robust lending growth
India’s Shriram Finance reported a more than 14% increase in adjusted quarterly profit on Friday, boosted by strong demand for business and vehicle loans.
The non-banking finance company (NBFC) reported a standalone adjusted profit of 20.80 billion rupees ($241.3 million) for the third quarter ended Dec. 31, compared to 18.18 billion rupees a year ago.
Adjusted profit does not include the additional 14.9 billion rupees in gains after the company sold its stake in the unit Shriram Housing Finance.
Net profit, including the additional gain, rose 96% to 35.7 billion rupees.
Solex Energy begins process to move on NSE main board
Renewable energy company Solex Energy on Friday announced its plan to move to NSE main board from the exchange’s MSME platform, Emerge. In a statement, the company said that it has already begun the process of migration from NSE Emerge to the main board.
The migration process is expected to be completed within approximately 90 days, subject to regulatory approvals and compliance with all requirements, Solex Energy said.
This transition will not only enhance the company’s market visibility but also strengthen its position in the renewable energy industry.
Tech view: Pullback possible above 22,980 in Nifty. How to trade on Monday
The domestic benchmark index Nifty opened on a marginally negative note, witnessed buying interest in the first half but later witnessed heavy profit booking and settled the day on a negative note at 23,092. Technically, the Nifty on a daily scale has formed a red candle indicating weakness. However, the index managed to defend the recent swing low of 22,980.
“Till the index holds the level of 22,980, short-term pullback towards 23,300-23,400 could be possible. On the flip side, sustaining below the recent swing low of 22,980 could lead to weakness towards 22,850-22,800 levels. On the upside, the 250-day Simple Moving Average (250-DSMA) hurdle is placed around 23,600 levels, which will act as major resistance for the index. Thus, a sell-on-rise strategy should be adopted in Nifty,” said Hrishikesh Yedve of Asit C. Mehta Investment Interrmediates.
In the open interest (OI) data, the highest OI on the call side was observed at 23,200 and 23,300 strike prices, while on the put side, the highest OI was at 23,000 strike price followed by 23,100.
Indigo Q3 Results: Cons PAT falls 18% YoY to Rs 2,449 crore, revenue up 14%
IndiGo operator InterGlobe Aviation reported an 18% YoY drop in Q3 net profit to Rs 2,449 crore, down from Rs 2,998 crore last year. Revenue from operations rose 14% YoY to Rs 22,111 crore, compared to Rs 19,452 crore in the same period last year.

The agency has reportedly frozen around Rs 500 crore in their virtual accounts over the past two years, in connection with a cryptocurrency scam involving 10 Chinese nationals behind the HPZ Token operation in India, according to The Times of India.
