Dow Futures Falling, S&P 500 Rising Ahead of Key CPI Inflation Report
U.S. stock futures struggled for direction early Wednesday as investors played a waiting game ahead of crucial inflation data.
The anticipation of November’s consumer price index data hasn’t helped the stock market, which has fallen for two consecutive days to start the week.
The cautious mood remained early Wednesday as futures on the S&P 500 rose 0.1%, Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.2%, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 0.1%. The Dow has struggled lately, falling for a fourth consecutive day Tuesday–it has now closed lower in six of the past seven sessions. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both slipped further off record highs reached Friday.
