Market sentiment is being weighed down by a combination of geopolitical uncertainties following the summit between President Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping, along with rising bond yields and persistent inflation.

The S&P 500 finished Friday 1.2% lower, ending the week with a minimal gain of 0.1%. The Nasdaq dropped 1.5% on Friday, leading to a weekly loss of roughly 0.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also closed Friday in negative territory, down 1.1%, and concluded the week with a 0.2% decline. On Friday, the 10-year Treasury yield surged past 4.5%, drawing intense investor focus.

The economic and earnings calendar is expected to offer a relative breather this week after several busy stretches. The highlight of the week will be Nvidia‘s quarterly results, scheduled for Wednesday. Nvidia recently surpassed the $5.7 trillion valuation mark, reaffirming its status as the world’s largest company. Following CEO Jensen Huang’s trip to China alongside President Trump, any comments regarding potential business agreements will be closely watched.

Other notable earnings reports include big-box retailers Target on Wednesday and Walmart on Thursday, budget airline Ryanair on Monday, and government contractor Booz Allen Hamilton on Friday. UBS analyst Tim Arcuri noted that investor interest remains high, but he has observed a marked apathy toward the stock even among major long-only funds, setting a high bar for the upcoming report. Investors will also scrutinize any updates from Huang on potential agreements reached in China. Nvidia shares hit a new all-time high on Thursday following a Reuters report that the U.S. government had approved the sale of Nvidia’s H200 chips to Chinese companies, including heavyweights Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, and JD.com.
