President Donald Trump claims he has made hundreds of billions of dollars for the United States through stocks and other holdings, insisting that everything he does is for the country — not for his own personal gain.

The comment came amid a slew of seemingly AI-generated photos Trump posted Sunday on his social media platform Truth Social. The photos included depictions of Iran’s defeat, Trump on horseback with George Washington and an image of actor Robert De Niro holding a shirt that said,”Trump is my president.” De Niro has been an outspoken critic of Trump since his first term in office.

One image showed Trump sitting in the White House in front of several monitors tracking the stock market, apparently profiting from a $75 rise in Intel’s share price.

“I do this for our Country, not myself,” the caption on the photo read. “I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the U.S.A., not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats. Very unfair, but what can you do!”

Trump’s investments

Trump provided no evidence to substantiate his “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars” claim. His comments come, however, as U.S. stocks have enjoyed a remarkable run, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite all hitting several record highs this year.

S&P 500 earnings have soared thanks in part to rising spending on semiconductors, memory chips and AI software, as well as the eye-watering valuation of tech companies like SpaceX, OpenAI and Anthropic. The Trump administration has also committed billions of dollars to semiconductor production, most notably through its investment in Intel — the company featured in Trump’s Truth Social post.

In August 2025, the Trump administration took a 10% stake in Intel, worth about $8.9 billion at the time. The position has now surged in value to more than $50 billion — a win Trump has claimed is a direct windfall for American taxpayers.

But the president has also personally benefitted from the growth. Filings from the Office of Government Ethics revealed the president bought shares in the chipmarker on several occasions this year. Trump bought between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Intel shares on February 3 and several smaller investments throughout March.
