Investing.com — Bernstein analysts have identified their preferred stock in the U.S. waste management sector, highlighting a company positioned to capitalize on improving commodity prices and operational momentum.
1. Waste Connections Inc (NYSE:WCN) – Bernstein rates the company “Outperform” with a $205 price target, forecasting 0.5% to 1.5% upside to its 2026 guidance.
Analysts said Waste Connections is best positioned to benefit from higher recycled commodity prices and stronger oil prices through its exploration and production waste business.
They expect moderating volume losses, continued pricing strength, and fuel surcharges to support results.
Higher prices for old corrugated containers, which account for 60% to 70% of the company’s recycled commodity revenue, could provide a further boost.
Bernstein estimates that stronger recycling prices could add $20 million to $50 million to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization in 2026, equivalent to 0.6% to 1.6% incremental growth to its full-year guidance.
The combination of these factors positions the company favorably within the waste management sector, according to the analysts.
