Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara has stated that the time taken to issue Government Analyst reports is expected to be reduced to three months by 31 January 2027.

During an inspection of the Government Analyst’s Department in Battaramulla on 16 October, the Minister reviewed progress in clearing delays, particularly in reports relating to narcotic substances.

The department has completed reports for drug samples weighing less than five grams received up to August 2026, under a special backlog-clearing programme. Measures including filling vacancies, improving facilities and providing allowances for night-duty officers have been introduced to speed up the process.
