Federal coffers are getting a lift not just from tariffs but also from booming capital-gains taxes, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing new IRS data. Taxpayers reported $530 billion in net capital gains for 2024 through mid-July, a 65% jump from the prior year.
