What this means for investors

Tech veteran Oracle held its Investor Day on Oct. 28, where it said fiscal 2027 sales should reach at least $90 billion, up from the prior year’s record revenue of $67.4 billion. It also projected free cash flow would turn positive in the second half of fiscal 2028 and reach at least $30 billion in fiscal 2029, which is easing AI spending concerns among investors. This forecast contributed to its strong share price performance on Wednesday.

Adding to the easing of worries over Oracle’s capital spending, the company stated, “Vendor financing, customer-provided hardware and customer prepayments are expected to reduce upfront cash requirements through the transition to positive free cash flow.”

The good news comes as Oracle’s stock has fallen about 50% over the past 12 months. The company was spending so much to expand its computing infrastructure to capitalize on the artificial intelligence boom, and issuing debt to cover the cost, that its credit rating was downgraded to BBB-, one notch above speculative grade, in 2026.

Earlier this year, Oracle’s September quarter beat and backlog strength helped revive confidence in cloud growth and debt management as the company posted record revenue of $19.3 billion, which represents an outstanding 30% year-over-year increase.
