Why That Number Matters

Geopolitics & Energy: President Donald Trump warned that the U.S. will “hit them hard” after Iran launched missiles at U.S. air bases in Jordan. This attack followed a U.S. strike on Iranian launchers at Larak Island. Trump also sparked domestic backlash by suggesting the Strait of Hormuz be renamed to “TRUMP STRAIT.” Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the move, calling Trump a “mad king” and pointing out that the conflict has raised diesel prices to $5.69 a gallon and gas prices to $4.12 a gallon. Despite the renewed tensions, crude prices retreated; Brent crude futures fell 0.85% to $94.82 a barrel, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 0.69% to $90.38 a barrel.

The Bull Case and Market Outlook
Despite the escalating geopolitical noise, market fundamentals remain remarkably resilient. President Trump expressed confidence that the “stock market will go up,” noting that it keeps hitting new records every day despite the ongoing war in Iran.
