The trust owns almost all of the Class B stock of Hershey. Bloomberg reported on December 11, 2024 that those shares carried roughly 80% of the company’s voting power. Hershey’s proxy calls the trust company, acting as trustee, the controlling shareholder. As of March 6, 2026, it held 54,612,012 Class B shares, and each one can be converted into a share of common stock. The trust turned away a takeover approach from Mondelez International (NASDAQ:MDLZ) in 2024 and blocked another in 2016.
